Dubai Devastated by Devastating Flash Floods
Heavy Rain Lashes Middle East, Causes Widespread Flooding
Roads, Homes, and Malls Inundated in United Arab Emirates
A relentless downpour unleashed a torrent of flash floods across Dubai on Tuesday, leaving roads submerged, homes inundated, and businesses crippled. The unprecedented rainfall, which began overnight, has caused widespread disruption and damage throughout the city.
Videos and images shared on social media show cars and buses submerged in floodwaters, with some vehicles even being carried away by the strong currents. Major roads, including Sheikh Zayed Road, were turned into raging rivers, making transportation virtually impossible.
Residential areas were also heavily affected, with many homes experiencing severe flooding. Residents scrambled to evacuate their properties, rescuing belongings and seeking higher ground. Shopping malls and other commercial establishments were also forced to close their doors as water poured in.
Authorities have deployed emergency services to assist residents and clear debris from affected areas. However, the heavy rainfall is expected to continue, posing further challenges to recovery efforts.
The intense rainfall is part of a wider weather system that has brought heavy rain and thunderstorms to other parts of the Middle East, including Oman, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. Meteorologists warn that the severe weather conditions are expected to persist in the coming days, raising concerns about further flooding and disruption.
