Bayern Munich defeated Real Madrid 2-1 in the final of the 2000-01 UEFA Champions League at the San Siro in Milan, Italy. Giovane Elber scored the opening goal for Bayern in the sixth minute, and Stefan Effenberg doubled their lead in the 50th minute. Raul pulled one back for Real Madrid in the 60th minute, but Bayern held on to win their fourth European Cup title.

The match was a rematch of the 1998 final, which Real Madrid won 1-0. Bayern Munich were determined to get revenge, and they started the match strongly.
