Classes will resume in the Brownsville Area School District on Thursday, May 2, 2024, after an alleged threat prompted the district to have a remote learning day on Wednesday. In a statement released on Tuesday evening, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Kidwell said that the district received a report of a threat on Tuesday afternoon. The district investigated the threat and determined that it was not credible. However, out of an abundance of caution, the district decided to have the remote learning day as a precaution.
Dr. Kidwell said that the district is working with local law enforcement to investigate the threat. He said that the district is committed to the safety of its students and staff and that it will take all necessary steps to ensure their safety.
Parents are urged to talk to their children about the importance of reporting any threats or suspicious activity. If you see something, say something.
