Chris Wilder makes Hull City, Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday comparison ahead of Yorkshire derby

Hull City boss Chris Wilder has compared his side to Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday ahead of the Yorkshire derby on Saturday.

The Tigers host the Owls at the MKM Stadium in a crucial clash at the bottom of the Championship table.

Hull are currently 21st in the standings, two points above the relegation zone, while Wednesday are bottom of the table and seven points from safety.

Wilder, who took over as Hull manager in January, is confident that his side can avoid relegation and has compared them to Leeds and Wednesday, who have both been promoted to the Premier League in recent years.

"I think we're in a similar position to Leeds and Wednesday were when they were promoted," Wilder said.

"They had to go through a tough period, but they stuck together and eventually came out of it."

"I'm confident that we can do the same."

Hull have won just two of their last 10 games, but Wilder is confident that they can turn things around.

"We've got a good group of players and we're working hard," he said.

"We know that we haven't been good enough in recent weeks, but we're determined to put that right."

"The Yorkshire derby is a big game for us and we're looking forward to it."

Wednesday are also in need of a win after losing their last three games.

Manager Darren Moore is confident that his side can turn things around and avoid relegation.

"We're in a difficult position, but we're not giving up," he said.

"We've got a lot of quality in our squad and we're confident that we can stay up."

"The Yorkshire derby is a big game for us and we're looking forward to it."
