Early Life and High School Career

Connor McCaffery was born on November 29, 1996, in Iowa City, Iowa. He attended Regis High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he excelled as a quarterback.

In his senior year, McCaffery led Regis to a 12-1 record and the Class 4A state championship. He threw for 2,500 yards and 24 touchdowns, and rushed for 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns.

McCaffery's impressive high school performance earned him numerous accolades, including being named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Iowa.

College Career at Stanford University

McCaffery committed to Stanford University in 2015 and joined the Cardinal football team.

As a redshirt freshman in 2016, McCaffery served as the backup quarterback to starter Ryan Burns.

In 2017, McCaffery took over as the starting quarterback and led Stanford to a 9-5 record and a berth in the Sun Bowl. He threw for 2,356 yards and 17 touchdowns, and rushed for 800 yards and 6 touchdowns.
