Latest News, Live Updates Today September 5, 2024: Omar Abdullah's emotional appeal to voters ahead J&K poll: ‘My honour in your…’

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah made an emotional appeal to voters ahead of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, saying that the verdict in the upcoming poll will be a reflection of his credibility.

Addressing the people at Uri Marwah rally, Omar Abdullah said that he is "not asking for votes for myself or my party", but seeking mandate for the development of Jammu and Kashmir. "The verdict in this election will be a verdict on me. If I am voted out, it will mean that I have lost your trust. If you vote for me, it will mean that you believe in me, that you have faith in me," said Abdullah.

The former chief minister also slammed the BJP and the PDP led government in the state, saying that the two parties have failed to deliver on their promises. He said that the state has been destroyed and the youth are unemployed.

"The BJP and PDP have failed miserably in the state. The state is in a mess. The youth are unemployed and the economy is in shambles," said Abdullah.

"I am not going to make any false promises. I will not promise anything that I cannot deliver. I will only promise one thing that I shall work hard to make Jammu and Kashmir a better place," said Abdullah.
